The Legal Cell renders effective legal assistance in the preparation of legal opinions, reports and correspondence, drafting of affidavit / reply, review, drafting of legal documents, as required from time to time in consultation with the office concerned with the approval of competent authority.

The cell is responsible for co-ordinating various issues / activities referred by the Ministry or the Zonal / Sub-Zonal / Port Offices / Laboratories of the CDSCO or issues comes under the purview of functioning and applicability of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules made thereunder for the public health and safety.

This Cell supervise and monitor the contesting of the cases in various Courts of law and to have interaction with Panel Lawyers, Courts, ASG and for their assistance in CDSCO / DGHS / MoHFW matters in Revisions, Reviews, Special Leave Petition, etc. in the purview of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules thereunder.

This Cell also constitutes a panel of consultants who ensure the providing of appropriate legal advice on a diverse range of substantive and procedural questions of law arising in functioning and applicability of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules thereunder, to firmly secure the interest of public health and welfare.

This cell maintains the Cases through a database prepared and monitored by Department of Legal Affairs of Ministry of Law & Justice, called Legal Information Management & Briefing System (LIMBS).

The Cell constitute in advising the matter of preferring of appeals in superior courts and in the matter of taking recourse to other legal remedies, as well as asssisting the operational departments in preparing of reply to legal notices received.
